When a child is absent due to illness or some other legitimate reason, it is important that the school is notified by telephone or letter addressed to the headteacher. The school is required by the DfE to publish the percentage of children who have been absent from school without permission. If it is necessary for your child to attend a doctor, dentist or hospital for treatment during the school day, you should notify us prior to the appointment and then collect your child from, and return your child to, the main reception area.
Headteachers are only able to authorise absence from school in exceptional circumstances. In making a request for an authorised absence from school you will need to explain why the circumstances are exceptional. Please note there is no general right to authorise absence for a family holiday and if you take your child out of school without permission the absence will be unauthorised.
First aid is given in the event of minor accidents and if further treatment is deemed necessary the school will contact you. If a visit to Accident & Emergency is necessary and you cannot be reached, you child will be taken by two members of staff to Haslemere Hospital.
Before and After School Care
Liphook Infant School provides before and after school childcare from 7:45am to 6:00pm. Further details may be found on the Clubs and Music Lessons page
Should you deliver and collect your child by car, please take extreme care as the road is quite narrow and very busy. Please be thoughtful where you choose to park so that no child is put at unnecessary risk and local residents are not inconvenienced.
School Trips should be made payable to: 'Liphook Infant School'
Jewellery is not permitted with the exception of small stud earrings which must be removed for PE and Games. This is a Hampshire County Council ruling and children must be able to remove their earrings themselves.
School lunches are free for all our students. Menus are available in the school foyer, and can be downloaded from the School Lunches page above. Children who prefer to bring packed lunches also eat in the school hall. A suitable lunch box should be provided and a plastic drinks container used.
If a Special Diet is required, please see the relevant information and forms on the Lunches Page
The school day begins at 8.55am although children are allowed to enter school from 8.45am onwards. Lunch for the children is between 12.00 noon and 1.00pm. The children have a playtime from 10.20–10.40am. School finishes at 3.15pm
Sickness and Medication
- Parents are asked to supply a telephone number at which they can be contacted and it is important the office is advised of any change in circumstances.
- Please do not send children to school if they are unwell.
- Inhalers prescribed for asthma are used by those children who need them under supervision of an adult. Epipens are used on the advice of a doctor.
- Medicine is administered in school only if prescribed by a doctor, and a completed 'Parental agreement for school to administer medicine' form is completed.
If your child has any serious allergies please notify the school office.
